BCEM PRESENTS WORLD DRUM JAM TO INTERNATIONAL DELEGATES
Every year during the World Routes Forum global airlines, airport authorities and aircraft industry manufacturers gather in an international destination for their annual meeting. This prestigious meeting selected Vancouver as the host city for 2010. BC Event Management (BCEM) was hired to produce the Gala event at Rogers Arena, Vancouver's 16,000 seat concert and sports stadium.
The percussionists represented a multitude of different cultures and styles. The show starts with a suspended drummer dangling 100 feet in the air suddenly revealed by a spotlight. This was followed by an eerie rumble from the unseen groups. A 35 foot high marionette wakes up and signals for the cast to be revealed and appears to lift a massive drape that reveals the cast of hundreds. The production builds group by group into a frenetic mass performance. More and more dancers enter from the wings as the tempo grows. The marionette dances along and plays its own oversized percussion instrument.
Clients have found this production to be a perfect fit for international events as it both represents the amazing diversity of Vancouver, while simultaneously paying homage to the many cultures represented in the audience.
